After graduating from Stanford University with a B.A. in History in 1979, Monique C. 里沃德 attended the University of California, Los Angeles School of Law. While at UCLA, she worked in the clinic, and she externed for Justice Otto M. Kaus of the California Supreme Court.
She graduated in 1983, and is a member of the Order of the Coif. She then worked for Gibson, Dunn and Crutcher, a firm based in Los Angeles. She took one year away from Gibson, Dunn to clerk for Judge Cynthia Holcomb Hall on the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. 在吉布森, Dunn she did a variety of litigation and transactional work, ultimately joining the Employment Law department.
In 1987 she came to teach at the University of Idaho 法学院. She received tenure in 1991 and was promoted to full professor in 1993. She served as associate dean from 1993-1995. She was a visiting professor at the College of William and Mary School of Law in 1996. She has received the University of Idaho 校友 Award for 教师 Excellence several times. Her areas of teaching are Torts and Workplace Law.
She writes in the areas of workplace law and torts. She is past president of the Employment Discrimination section of the Association of American Law Schools and is past secretary of the Labor and Employment Section. She has been Secretary of the Board of Directors of Catholic Charities of Idaho, an anti-poverty organization, and is currently on the Board of Directors for Palouse Pathways, which provides college and career information to high school students in Idaho and Washington. In her spare time, she enjoys choral singing.
